Our warranty

Your roof is backed by two warranties, not one.

A roof is only as good as the protection behind it. With Kodiak Roofing, the shingles are covered by IKO’s manufacturer warranty, and the installation is covered by our matching 15 to 25 year workmanship warranty — so the materials and the work are protected.

Two layers, one roof

What actually protects your investment.

Most warranty confusion comes from not realizing two separate things are covered — the shingles, and the way they were installed. Here is how both layers work together.

The materials — IKO Limited Lifetime warranty

IKO's architectural and performance shingles — Cambridge, Dynasty, Nordic, and Crowne Slate — carry a Limited Lifetime warranty for the original homeowner, including a 15-year Iron Clad Protection Period of full, non-prorated coverage. Wind and algae resistance are covered under their own limited warranties.

  • Limited Lifetime coverage for the original homeowner
  • 15-year Iron Clad Protection (full, then prorated)
  • Limited wind & algae-resistance coverage
  • Transferable once within the first 10 years

The installation — matched to your manufacturer term

Materials are only half the roof — how it goes on is the other half. Most roofers cover their workmanship for a year or two and leave you exposed for the remaining two decades. We match our workmanship warranty to the manufacturer's term instead, so both layers run the same length: typically 15 years, up to 25 depending on the shingle system. If something we did is not right, we come back and fix it. No finger-pointing between the manufacturer and the crew.

Protect your coverage

What can quietly void a roofing warranty.

A warranty on paper means nothing if the roof was set up to fail. These are the most common reasons homeowners lose coverage they thought they had — and the reasons we install the way we do.

Poor attic ventilation

A roof that bakes from below because the attic cannot breathe can age out years early — and that is often not covered.

Improper installation

Wrong nailing, missing underlayment, or sloppy flashing can void the manufacturer's coverage entirely. The install has to be done to spec.

Unrelated alterations

Adding satellite mounts, vents, or other penetrations after the fact — done incorrectly — can disturb the roof system and affect coverage.

Why our install keeps it valid

A certified installation is what keeps the coverage real.

A manufacturer’s shingle warranty depends on a correct installation. As experienced installers, we build to the standards that keep your coverage intact — and document the work so you have proof.

  • Proper attic ventilation so heat and moisture do not shorten shingle life
  • Correct nailing pattern and placement to manufacturer specification
  • Ice-and-water shield and underlayment in the right places for Alberta weather
  • Clean flashing details at valleys, walls, chimneys, and penetrations

The warranty is only worth what the installation is. Every roof is photographed from inspection through handoff, so the record exists if you ever need to make a claim.

FAQ

Roofing warranty questions, answered.

Want the exact terms for your roof? We will walk you through them before any work begins.

What warranty comes with a new roof from Kodiak Roofing?

Your roof is protected on two levels. IKO's architectural shingles carry a Limited Lifetime warranty for the original homeowner — including a 15-year Iron Clad Protection Period of full, non-prorated coverage, plus limited wind and algae-resistance coverage — and the warranty can be transferred once within the first 10 years. On top of that, we back our installation with a 15 to 25 year workmanship warranty. The exact IKO terms depend on the shingle line, and we provide the full warranty document in writing.

Why does a certified, proper installation matter for my warranty?

A manufacturer's shingle warranty generally only holds if the roof is installed to specification — correct ventilation, nailing, underlayment, and flashing. As an experienced IKO shingle installer, we install to those standards so your manufacturer coverage stays valid.

What can void a roofing warranty?

Common culprits are poor attic ventilation, improper installation, walking or working on the roof incorrectly, and unrelated alterations or add-ons that disturb the roof system. Doing the install right the first time is what keeps the coverage intact.

Is the workmanship warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Transfer terms vary by warranty. Tell us your situation and we will explain exactly what carries over to a new owner so there are no surprises at closing.

Do roof repairs come with a warranty too?

Yes. We stand behind our repair work as well. The coverage on a targeted repair is different from a full replacement, and we will explain what applies to your specific job.
